Glenn M. Preminger, MD, has been named the new AUA chairman of education, succeeding David L. McCullough, MD. Dr. Preminger’s 4-year term will commence on July 1, 2006.
Among his duties as chairman, Dr. Preminger will work with the AUA/American Board of Urology Examination Committee to produce the ABU qualifying exam, the AUA in-service and self-assessment examinations, and educational materials related to the forthcoming ABU maintenance of certification requirements. He will also oversee the strategic direction of AUA’s educational programs and the quality and medical accuracy of courses and materials.
“I am excited to undertake this important position, as continuing education and life-long learning are tenants of the practice of urology,” said Dr. Preminger, who is professor of urologic surgery and the director of the urologic residency program at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. “We plan to integrate and implement the desires and needs of the practicing physician, academic researcher, resident-in-training, and aspiring medical student into our educational offerings.”
