Experts share what they are looking forward to at SMSNA Annual Meeting

“One of the things that the SMSNA does really well is promote, obviously, a lot of important learning, but also a lot of opportunities for networking,” says Matthew Ziegelmann, MD.

In this video, members of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA)’s Board of Directors highlight offerings that they are particularly excited for at this year’s annual meeting, set to take place November 16-19, 2023 in San Diego, California.

Video Transcript:

Mohit Khera, MD, MBA, MPH: We're making a big effort into international attendees. This year, we're having a Spanish only session, which will be conducted only in Spanish on sexual medicine, which I think is very exciting. But this year, I think the international attendance will be much higher, and we're looking forward to that.

Tobias Köhler, MD, MPH, FACS: In addition, I think the transgender course, which we're going to be co-sponsoring is a huge step forward to push this field forward. It's a very rare opportunity to have many experts in the field gathered in the same place to work and hear lectures and work on cadavers, etc., to optimize the surgery. Because really, it's in its infancy. So, it's a great way to push the field forward in that space as well.

Lawrence Jenkins, MD, MBA, FACS: We also forgot to mention, on the very first day of the meeting on Thursday morning, there's some other courses. We're going to have a Fundamentals Course in Women's Sexual Health, co-sponsored by ISSWSH. We're also going to have a Basic Science Symposium, where they're pushing the history of sexual medicine research. So, that should be a pretty interesting draw. All of these are going to be before the full meeting starts. So, make sure people get there early.

Matthew Ziegelmann, MD: One of the other things that the SMSNA does really well is promote, obviously, a lot of important learning, but also a lot of opportunities for networking. Throughout the meeting, there's a lot of social mixers and opportunities to catch up with old friends, meet new mentors, and have the full breadth of the experience being at the meeting.
