Donna Moonda, the Mercer County, PA, woman convicted of hiring her lover to kill her husband, Gulam Moonda, MD, a former Mercer County urologist, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Sept. 21, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

U.S. District Judge David D. Dowd, Jr, was bound by the jury decision in July that Donna Moonda receive a life sentence for the murder-for-hire conviction. Jurors rejected the death penalty.

Damian Ray Bradford, 26, testified during the month-long trial that he shot and killed the doctor in what was supposed to look like a random highway robbery because she promised him a share of her husband's estate.

Bradford was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison after becoming the key prosecution witness in the case.
