NIDDK appoints Dr. Schaeffer to advisory council

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has named Anthony J. Schaeffer, MD, as one of seven new members of its advisory council.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has named Anthony J. Schaeffer, MD, as one of seven new members of its advisory council. As part of the council, Dr. Schaeffer will meet with other council members three times annually to consult the NIDDK about its research portfolio.

Dr. Schaeffer is the Herman L. Kretschmer professor and chairman of the department of urology at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago. He currently serves as chair of the National Institutes of Health Multi-Site Collaborative Research Project on male chronic pelvic pain syndrome and as chair of the research council for AUA. Dr. Schaeffer joins the Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases Subcommittee. His research focus is on urinary tract infections and prostatitis.
