American Medical Systems, Laserscope announce merger
American Medical Systems Holdings Inc. and Laserscope, two companies with a significant presence in the urology market, have entered into a definitive merger agreement providing for the acquisition of Laserscope by AMS.

American Medical Systems Holdings Inc. and Laserscope, two companies with a significant presence in the urology market, have entered into a definitive merger agreement providing for the acquisition of Laserscope by AMS. The total acquisition price for Laserscope’s shares and options is approximately $715 million.
The acquisition will add a variety of BPH therapy solutions to AMS’s line of modalities and products for the treatment of pelvic disorders in men and women, according to a statement from the companies.
