AUA has announced that Heddy Hubbard, PhD, MPH, RN will be the association’s new director of guidelines.
In this position, Dr. Hubbard will direct AUA’s clinical guidelines process, including the development, updating, dissemination, and assessment of the impact of guidelines. She will play a lead role in AUA’s quality performance measurement efforts for both public and private payers and the coordination of public activities related to support of maintenance of certification in partnership with the American Board of Urology.
For more than 16 years, Dr. Hubbard has been a lead clinician at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, where she served as acting director, Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research, and associate director, Center for Outcomes and Evidence. She was the agency’s senior nurse adviser and a lead on the Health and Human Services patient safety legislation.
“Dr. Hubbard brings a wealth of experience with her to the AUA,” said AUA associate executive director of health policy Beth Kosiak, PhD. “I am confident that her clinical background, government contacts, and extensive management experience, combined with her newly minted PhD focused on outcomes research, will be a huge asset to the AUA's guidelines program.”
