Cook Urology, a division of Cook Medical, and Convergent Laser Technologies have entered into a worldwide agreement that enables Cook to market and distribute Convergent’s Odyssey lasers and laser fibers for the treatment of kidney stones.

The Odyssey laser and laser fibers use patented, variable pulse width technology that allows surgeons to switch from disintegration of stones to ablation and coagulation of soft tissue with one push of a button. Its green aiming beam enhances visibility of the treatment site and the device can be used to treat renal stones regardless of size, position, or composition, according to Cook.
