Destigmatizing Urology: Dr. Amarasekera discusses sexual minorities in urology

“Gay people have had this history of feeling like the health care system and the structures that are supposed to protect them haven't protected them and kept them safe,” says Channa Amarasekera, MD.

In this episode of Destigmatizing Urology, Urology Times Assistant Editor Janelle Hart spoke with Channa Amarasekera, MD. He discusses the history surrounding sexual minorities in the health care system and what clinicians can do to create a more accepting and supportive environment for this patient population. Amarasekera is a professor of urology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Evanston, Illinois.
