Does prostate cancer treatment type affect mental health outcomes?

“We kind of expected that treatment type wouldn't make a ton of difference in terms of…mental health outcomes after either surgery or radiation…but we were very clearly able to find groups of people who were at risk for poor mental health outcomes,” says Amy N. Luckenbaugh, MD.

In this video, Amy N. Luckenbaugh, MD, shares the background and key findings of the recent Journal of Urology study “Association between Treatment for Localized Prostate Cancer and Mental Health Outcomes,” for which she served as first author. Luckenbaugh is an assistant professor of urology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee.
