Michael Kuettel, MD, PhD, chairman of the department of radiation medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, has been selected to serve on the steering committee for the National Consensus Standards for Clinical Level Cancer Care of the National Quality Forum.
The National Quality Forum is a not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting. The purpose of the National Consensus Standards for Clinical Level Cancer Care is to identify and endorse measures for public accountability and quality improvement related to cancer care at the individual clinical level, enabling consumers to make informed decisions about where to seek care.
Dr. Kuettel has collaborated with the national prostate cancer patient advocacy and support group Us Too! to establish the Buffalo Niagara Prostate Cancer Consortium, a partnership among community urologists, academic institutions, health care organizations, insurance companies and a comprehensive cancer center.
