Juan Reyna, MD, is the new president of the Large Urology Group Practice Association (LUGPA).

Dr. Reyna, a urologist practicing in San Antonio, was installed in the position during the recent LUGPA annual membership meeting in Chicago.

“As a founding member of LUGPA, I’ve seen the impressive work that’s been done by the organization and its members,” Dr. Reyna said. “I look forward to building upon LUGPA’s successes as we work to support the growth of our member practices, collaborate with other specialty associations, and enhance patient education.”

Dr. Reyna is the founder of Urology San Antonio, an integrated urology practice with 29 physicians, 200 employees, eight urology clinics, and a cancer treatment facility. He led the practice as CEO for 30 years before stepping down in 2012.

Dr. Reyna and his wife, Joni, are the creators of Los Padres, a San Antonio-based non-profit dedicated to improving men’s health by creating community awareness about prostate cancer, particularly the need for early detection. They were also integral to the success of San Antonio’s inaugural ZERO Prostate Cancer Run in September 2013, raising $103,000 for prostate cancer awareness.

Dr. Reyna attended San Antonio College and the University of Texas Pharmacy School. He completed medical school and urology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and surgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is currently a clinical assistant professor in the division of urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
