Dr. Twiss joins U. of Arizona as director of female urology

Christian O. Twiss, MD, has joined The University of Arizona department of surgery as assistant professor of clinical surgery and director of female urology, pelvic medicine, and pelvic reconstructive surgery.

Christian O. Twiss, MD, has joined The University of Arizona department of surgery as assistant professor of clinical surgery and director of female urology, pelvic medicine, and pelvic reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Twiss will help develop a Center for Pelvic Medicine at University Medical Center, which will provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of female pelvic disorders, according to a University of Arizona statement. Specialists in urology, gynecology, colorectal surgery, physiotherapy, pain management, and psychiatry will work as a team to treat women diagnosed with urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction.

Dr. Twiss completed both medical school and residency training at New York University and completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, female urology, and urodynamics at UCLA, one of the few fellowships in the country accredited by both the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Urology.
