Dr. Uzzo, Dr. Jones appointed at Fox Chase, Cleveland Clinic

Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, has named urologist Robert G. Uzzo, MD, vice chairman of the department of surgical oncology. Nationally known as a leader in the field of urologic oncology, Dr. Uzzo has made important clinical, scientific, and educational contributions to the department. In addition, Dr. Uzzo became acting chairman of the department on Jan. 1.

Nationally known as a leader in the field of urologic oncology, Dr. Uzzo has made important clinical, scientific, and educational contributions to the department. In addition, Dr. Uzzo became acting chairman of the department on Jan. 1.

Dr. Uzzo’s interests focus on treatment for kidney, prostate, testicular, and bladder cancer and procedures for urinary diversion. He is a national principal investigator for a clinical trial by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group to evaluate new, targeted therapies for kidney cancers.

In related news, J. Stephen Jones, MD, has been appointed as chairman of the department of regional urology within the Cleveland Clinic Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute. This is one of three departments within the new Glickman Institute, along with the department of urology and the department of nephrology and hypertension.

Dr. Jones has been a member of the Cleveland Clinic professional staff since 2000. He has served as vice-chairman of the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, and he holds a faculty appointment as associate professor of surgery within the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Jones is an active urologic surgeon with clinical and research interests in the areas of oncology and male sterilization. He has authored 63 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 18 book chapters, and two books for the lay public.
