Vipul Patel, MD, a specialist in treating prostate and kidney cancer, has joined The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, as clinical associate professor of surgery and will also direct a fellowship program in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Patel has performed more than 900 robotic-assisted prostatectomies and frequently performs laparoscopic partial nephrectomies and radiofrequency ablation of kidney tumors.
Dr. Patel, most recently director of minimally invasive surgery at Urology Centers of Alabama, Homewood, earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, and served residencies in surgery and urology at The University of Miami School of Medicine.
