Urology Times Contributing Editor Mac Overmyer was among the honorees in the 2011 AUA Excellence in Urology Health Reporting Awards presented yesterday.

Urology Times Contributing Editor Mac Overmyer was among the honorees in the 2011 AUA Excellence in Urology Health Reporting Awards presented yesterday.

Overmyer was recognized in the trade category for the article, "ADT and cardiac risk: Guidelines are needed, experts say," which appeared in the March 2010 issue of Urology Times. In the article, Overmyer discussed the association between androgen deprivation therapy and cardiac risk in men with prostate cancer.

Other 2011 award winners included Lisa Bendall, who was recognized in the consumer print category for her article "Under Pressure?" The article, which focused on incontinence in women of all ages and covered available treatments and current medical advances in treating the condition, was published in the November/December 2010 issue of Best Health magazine.

Zosia Chustecka was honored in the consumer electronic category for a September 2010 Medscape article, "One-Time PSA Testing at 60 Instead of Routine Screening?" The article reported on a study that was published online in the British Medical Journal (Sept. 14, 2010).

The AUA’s Excellence in Urology Health Reporting Awards are given annually by the AUA Public Media Committee, which is composed of urologists from around the United States.
