In our “Best of AUA” report, Urology Times’ editors and writers present the AUA annual meeting’s take-home messages in 15 therapeutic areas.
Orlando, FL-The recently concluded AUA annual meeting in Orlando, FL may be best remembered for the lively exchanges of the “Crossfire: Controversies in Urology” sessions. This first-time program saw urology’s thought leaders debate such topics as early detection of prostate cancer, testosterone use/abuse, the use of slings for stress incontinence, and whether percutaneous nephrolithotomy is on the way out.
AUA 2014 was also noteworthy for practical, thought-provoking research on those topics as well as new tests for prostate cancer, prevention of post-prostate biopsy infection, trends in robotic surgery, and use of an advanced prostate cancer agent in the pre-chemotherapy setting.
