In this video, Yeonsoo Sara Lee, MD, discusses the sessions, networking opportunities, and recurring events she is most looking forward to at the upcoming American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting. Lee is a PGY-2 urology resident at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Lee said one of the highlights she consistently returns to at the AUA meeting is the history exhibit, which she described as a unique opportunity to learn about aspects of urology that are not typically emphasized in clinical training. She noted that past exhibits focused on topics such as military history and sexual dysfunction have stood out to her. In addition to the educational exhibits, Lee said she plans to attend several annual networking and mentorship events, including the young urologists forum, residents forum, and medical student mingle. She emphasized the importance of engaging with medical students who are exploring careers in urology and connecting with colleagues across different stages of training.

Lee also highlighted the annual meeting of the Society of Women in Urology as one of her “must-see” events each year. She described the gathering as an important community where she has benefited from mentorship and has also begun mentoring more junior trainees as they enter the field. According to Lee, the meeting provides an opportunity to foster professional relationships and support the advancement of women in urology.

As a second-year resident continuing to explore potential fellowship pathways, Lee also said she plans to attend a variety of subspecialty sessions during the meeting. She noted particular interests in reconstructive urology and female pelvic medicine and reconstruction, while remaining open to learning about other areas within the specialty.
