The FDA has approved the first generic versions of the antibiotic levofloxacin.

The FDA has approved the first generic versions of the antibiotic levofloxacin.
Levofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of mild, moderate, or severe bacterial infections of the kidneys, bladder, prostate, skin, and sinuses caused by specific germs.
Generic tablet, oral solution, and injectable solution dosage forms of levofloxacin have been approved. The approval includes applications for generic levofloxacin submitted by 12 manufacturers.
